Proyecto Vimenti

San Juan, Puerto Rico

The Boys & Girls Club of Puerto Rico launched Proyecto Vimenti in 2018, and opened its doors to 58 students in Kindergarten and 1st Grade. Proyecto Vimenti is the territory’s first charter and will gradually expand to higher grades in the coming years. We are currently working with the school’s leadership and faculty to build their knowledge of the Framework and support their efforts to create a culture of adult learning and a system of professional development that will ensure their success as a school. In addition, we are supporting staff to leverage their professional learning communities to strengthen reflection and practice. Our partnership began in January, 2019 and is an incredible opportunity for our team to support an amazing group of educators as they build a school and a school culture from the ground up.

California State University, Channel Islands

Camarillo, CA

The School of Education at CSU – Channel Islands has undertaken a concerted and commendable effort to reimagine their teacher preparation program as a community-based, community-focused, and community-wide effort. The goal of our work with leadership and faculty is to further the efforts of the college and their stakeholders as they formally identify and describe the “Ready for Day 1” competencies that the program will nurture in its teacher candidates and that districts in the surrounding community can expect from new teachers. We will convene focus groups and conduct interviews with college faculty and students to determine the type of tool and specific elements or content that will be most useful and work with them to refine it. We will present a draft to faculty, students, and other stakeholders for feedback to revise the tool. The college will pilot a prototype of the instrument in spring 2020 and support faculty, mentors, and candidates in the content and use of the tool prior to the pilot.

Professional Learning with Impact

Florida, Oregon, and Connecticut

Through a federal Education and Innovation Research grant received by American Institutes for Research, we are engaged in a project to refine and scale the Professional Learning with Impact program, which we developed in partnership with Learning Forward. The program was developed in partnership with Learning Forward and is a comprehensive approach to problem-based inquiry for teacher teams. The program combines Learning Forward’s Teacher Learning Teams model and our approach to collaborative observation and coaching using the Framework Clusters. The participating school districts include one of the largest in the country, a rural school district, and a diverse, mid-sized district.

Riverside Unified School District

Riverside, California

Riverside Unified School District is the 15th largest school district in California, with 42,000 students with 5,000 employees. In a one-day session with The Danielson Group that marked the beginning of a long-term engagement, our team worked alongside school district administrators to customize a multi-year implementation rollout for the Framework for Teaching that includes custom trainings, standards alignment, and thought partnership. Through this partnership, DG provides Riverside with additional capacity and expertise to help the district cement the Framework as a centerpiece for their instructional improvement efforts. This partnership provides a common language to talk about instruction, training design, and a rollout plan that meets the district where it is right now and adapts as it moves forward.
