About the Danielson Group

The Danielson Group (DG) is strengthening professional practices and promoting education policies that elevate teacher development and leadership in service of student learning. Charlotte Danielson developed the FFT to promote clear and meaningful conversations about effective teaching practice. The DG advances the principles of the FtT by partnering with educators and policy leaders across the United States and abroad to enhance their practice and ultimately ensure that each student can acquire deep understanding of important, complex content. 


About the Manager of Finance Operations

The Manager of Finance Operations will be critical to the growth of the DG’s educator support programs. This individual will report to and work closely with the Executive Director to ensure efficient execution of internal operations, successful partner engagements, and the fiscal health of the organization. This is a full-time position based in Chicago. Occasional travel is required. Salary is competitive and commensurate with experience.

 

The Manager of Finance and Operations will have the following responsibilities:

Finance

  • Manage accounting and bookkeeping for the organization including accounts payable and receivable, banking, expense reimbursement, and payroll functions.

  • Interface with bookkeeper regularly.

  • Interface with CPA to coordinate financial audits and submit 990 reports.

  • Work with the Director of Programs to develop and manage budgets for large-scale projects

  • Work with the Director of External Affairs to handle revenue and budget for all development initiatives, including creating and monitoring grant budgets and grant-required financial reports.

  • Facilitate the annual budget process.

  • Provide monthly financial reporting and analysis of financial statements to the Executive Director.

  • Create quarterly financial reports and budget overview for the Board of Directors.

  • Create project profitability reports.

  • Provide administrative assistance, including oversight of vendor/procurement accounts and relationships.

 

Operations

  • Responsible for office management, including but not limited to, relationship with building management for office space in Chicago, mail delivery and FedEx services.

  • Analyze and organize team operations and procedures to increase efficiency and productivity

  • Coordinate benefits and payroll with employees and our professional employer organization (Tri-Net)

  • Manage timekeeping (TSheets) and expense reimbursement (Expensify) systems and processes

  • Manage registration and enrollment for regional and national Danielson Group events (Eventbrite)

  • Coordinate business registration and vendor filings, business liability insurance, and  

  • Oversee/manage other web-based systems for organizational communication, knowledge management, and partner relationships (G Suite, Salesforce)

  • Work directly with the Executive Director and Executive Operations Manager on other projects as needed

  • Create and manage tools to support internal communications and information sharing

  • Manage or support special projects as needed for other members of the Leadership Team

 

The ideal candidate will bring the following to the Manager of Finance and Operations role:

  • Strong organizational skills including project planning and prioritization

  • An ability to manage up and ensure follow through on tasks assigned to senior leadership and board members

  • Excellent problem solving and process improvement skills 

  • Exceptional oral and written communications skills 

  • Experience working in accounting and constituent management systems - preferably QBO and Salesforce.

  • Ability to manage multiple projects and relationships simultaneously

  • Ability to thrive in an entrepreneurial, start-up environment

  • Experience working in education and/or a nonprofit a plus

  • A minimum of 5 years of relevant experience
